Will Smith.
Not gonna lie, I'm not a huge fan. That's not to say I don't enjoy his work ... I liked "I Am Legend," "Men in Black" and "Independence Day." His so-called rap was too PG for my taste (I'd rather have Slick Rick's smooth voice share how to bugger a girl in an elevator). "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" was ... well it was a big bucket of OK. However, work aside, his personality is too Tom-Cruise-ish (in-your-face optimistic narcissism) and I don't care for how he's shoving his silver spoon fed children in the world's face with horrible rap songs and placing them in the movies he produces (yeah, he produced the new "Karate Kid" featuring his son. Coincidence?) and stars in ("The Pursuit of Happyness" and "I Am Legend" also featured his kids). He's always saying how perfect his family is, how wonderful his children are ... blah blah blah.
Barf.
The Scientology thing leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. He says he's Christian but donates to Scientology organizations and founded a private elementary school that utilizes a teaching plan developed by LordMaster Scientology himself, L. Ron Hubbard. You are now entering the Twilight Zone.
Hmm ... anyway I'm getting off topic. So, Will Smith. He's currently back in the news because of premiers for his latest flick, "Men in Black III" (aka "We Are Back For More Money Again"), but he's also red hot for the slap heard across the world.
So, Willard (did you know his given name is Willard?) was grinning, laughing obnoxiously and schmoozing his way along the red carpet of the Moscow premiere of MIBIII when a morning news TV "reporter" of sorts, Vitalii Sediuk, went for a hug and then (gasp) a smooch right on the kisser. Apparently, Sediuk is known for his antics with celebrities -- look him up, he's done some ridiculously stupid things for attention.
How did Willard respond? He reached back like a pimp and he slapped the hoe back handed and remarked, "Hey, man, what the hell is your problem, buddy?" Tsk tsk. He later said, "He's lucky I didn't sucker-punch him."
Well look at the big balls on Will! Tough guy!
So, what's the reaction from the media? Perhaps a tsk tsk thrown Sediuk's way? Maybe a tsk tsk for Will's touch guy reaction? Nope. Obviously Will Smith is a homophobe! Wait ... what? I'm not buying the shit they're shoveling. Some media outlets want to get everyone in a hizzy so people will visit their website, read their articles, and eat their b.s. or simply because they want to go, "Hey! Look at us! We love gay people! We would never slap one!" Others actually believe this shit.
Look, I'm not a man and, for that matter, I'm not a gay man. I'm a heterosexual girl so I won't pretend to understand the gay plight. Also, I'd love for Will Smith to be seen for who he really is, a right-wing elitist! He's not some brother from the hood, he's not some bad boy for life ... he's a rich snob with homes on Star Island in Miami Beach, Fla. and Los Angeles, Stockholm, Sweden and Philadelphia. However, kissing on the mouth is a personal, sensual thing. Hugging is even a personal thing. A man hugged Will Smith, which he allowed, and then went to kiss him on the mouth. That's inappropriate whether you are gay, straight, bisexual, transgender, asexual ... whatever. You don't kiss strangers on the mouth or at all for that matter! No kissy kissy! This isn't a homophobic matter, it's an etiquette manner. Sediuk invaded Will Smith's personal space and shame on him.
So, this makes me think ... with the gay marriage controversy red hot in America, with gay youth committing suicide left and right because of bullying, is homophobia becoming the new racism? Race cards and homophobe cards. Trayvon Martin and North Carolina. Different = bad so if you're a white heterosexual than, obviously, black people and homosexuals are a danger to your way of life, right? Protect marriage! From what?
Yes, there are lots of people out there who are racist, homophobic and overall afraid of anything different from them, anything or anyone they don't understand. Shame on them but being the boy who cried wolf in regards to pointing the finger at outrage isn't the best way to go about this people. If you want to point the finger at Will Smith, do it because he's an ass. Don't over exaggerate situations because it diminishes your voice and the plights of people facing discrimination.
